Killerwhales Level
This is the 3rd step within UDASC teaching structure. Killerwhales are
non-competitive swimmers and are assigned to squads based on ability levels:
Therefore:
- Killerwhales 1's can train with Squad 1 (Top/Jr Top/Masters/Sr Sq),
- Killerwhales 2's train with Squad 2 (Sharks), and
- Killerwhales 3's train with Squad 3 (Tadpoles and Dolphins).
Swimmers may be accepted into this squad after successful completion of the
Dolphin programme or as a direct entry. The aim is to continue the development
of stroke technique in four competitive strokes, build aerobic endurance &
develop competitive skills. Swimmers are encouraged to attend Technique Nights
& Performance Nights as part of their development and would be expected to
compete in SAS league matches and friendly meets, if selected.
This squad caters for swimmers who are still working on technique in order to be
considered for the competitive squads, and also swimmers who do not wish the
commitment of the competitive squads. Swimmer in this squad will usually be age
11 - 14 years. By the age of 15, swimmers would either have moved into the
competitive squads or would progress to Senior Squad.
