SAS Junior League
As an Upper Deeside competitor, you will have taken part in performance
nights, and club competitions. The next step towards competitive swimming is
selection for the SAS Junior League. These are short, competitive sessions that
are team based including the 12 years and under age group.
The
four SAS clubs of Upper Deeside,
Banchory, Stonehaven and Westhill will compete against each other in four matches taking place monthly
between January and June. The team scoring the highest points will win the club
trophy for the SAS Junior League awarded after the last match.
SAS Junior League Details:
-
Held at Westhill pool
5PM - 8PM Saturday evenings
-
Full competitive rules will apply including over the top starts
-
Fully accredited competition necessitating four qualified timekeepers and
two judges from each club for every match
-
Three heats per event with points awarded for all legal swims
-
Double points awarded for distance events and squadron relay
Selection of UDASC squad:
The squad coaches
select swimmers on the basis
of times achieved at performance night, and stroke proficiency. As the events
vary each match, swimmers may not have as many swims each time. Every effort is
made, however, to include all squad members in at least one event while allowing
UDASC the best opportunity to win the club trophy. Each match should be treated
the same as any competition outside the club by confirming attendance by reply
slip and giving adequate notice for any unavoidable absences.
